Welcome to the Tri Team Glos Young Triathletes FAQ page! We understand that as a young athlete interested in triathlons, you may have many questions about our program and the sport. This page has been created to provide you with answers to the most commonly asked questions about our program, including training schedules, membership fees, competition rules, and more. Our aim is to make your experience with Tri Team Glos as smooth and enjoyable as possible, and we hope that this page will give you the information you need to get started on your triathlon journey. We welcome young triathletes from the age of 7 to 17 years old. To compete in events you must turn 8 on or before 31st December that year.

No, we welcome all abilities and experience levels, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced triathlete. The only requirement is that you can swim at least 25 meters, one length of a standard pool, without stopping.

Yes, you will need to bring your own bike, helmet, water bottle, and appropriate sportswear. We can provide advice on suitable equipment if needed.

There may be additional costs for entry fees to races and for additional sessions on top of our normal training plan. We will provide details of any additional costs before the event.

Training sessions are held regularly throughout school term times. We offer swim training twice a week on Monday and Thursday nights at Holmleigh Park Sports Centre and Run/Bike sessions on Sunday mornings at Oxstalls Sports Park.

No, attendance is not compulsory, but we encourage regular attendance to help improve your skills and fitness.

Parents need to stay for taster sessions, but after you have joined the club and the coaches are happy, yu can drop your child off at the session. Parents must be back at least 5 minutes before the end of each session to allow the coaches to handover in line with our safeguarding procedures. Children over 13 can attend and leave Run/Bike sessions by themselves once their parent has signed the safeguarding document. 

Yes, we aim to provide support and adaptations for young triathletes with additional needs wherever possible. Please contact us to discuss any specific requirements.

You can become a member by completing our online registration form and paying the annual membership fee and setting up a standing order for monthly subs. We will then contact you with further details of upcoming events and training sessions.
